Other Characters Currently In-Game: Pagan, Johann, Sheehan, Henry
Character Name: Aaron Stampler/Roy
Series: Primal Fear (movie with details from the book to fill in as needed)
Age: 19, almost 20
From When?: Aaron doesn’t have a canon death, but we’ll say he was killed by another inmate just before he was transferred to another facility.
Inmate Justification: It would seem that everything Aaron was accused of doing (killing the Archbishop) was justified, considering the abuse he suffered. It would seem even less likely that Aaron would need intervention from a warden and the Admiral when people learn about his dissociative identity disorder (called multiple personality disorder in his time). But that’s a lie. Aaron Stampler does not have DID and never has. His real personality is Roy, and he uses Aaron as an innocent cover. Aaron delights in the way he butchered the Archbishop and Linda, his ex girlfriend, too. He brags about it. Aaron is violent, highly manipulative, and exceptionally resistant to change.
Arrival: He actually agreed to come!
Abilities/Powers: Aaron is very manipulative, but is otherwise baseline human.
Inmate Information:
Aaron’s major crime might seem like the killing of Archbishop Rushman and Linda, but that’s only the more obvious infraction. In fact, his major crime is getting away with it and the way that he did. It’s not clear when he started faking MPD (or DID, as it’s known now), but he claims that he’s been “losing time” since he was a boy. One of the nuns at the church even described him as a sweet boy. Quiet. Something Aaron is not. He’s carefully curated a personality for at least the past couple of years. Not anticipating a murder, but because he has made a habit of dodging any responsibility.
While his murder of the Archbishop might be, if not justified, then at least understandable, he refused to take any responsibility of it. Instead, not wanting to face any jail time or any consequences for it, he created this idea of another personality who took over when he would need protecting. He named this personality “Roy,” but convinced his lawyer and anyone else he worked with that “Roy” was the alter personality and “Aaron” was who he really was.
But Aaron, in reality, is an angry, vindictive little shit. He has every reason to kill Bishop Rushman, but his girlfriend Linda was killed because she cheated on him. It was just a slight and did not justify murder or any other bodily harm. Furthermore, Aaron is an angry man, violent and manipulative, and uses his other personality as a way to purge those feelings and instincts without repercussions.
He gets Marty, his lawyer, to trust him. He seemingly believes that Marty knows the truth (despite working extra hard to manipulate him) and that they are working together. He takes advantage of Marty’s genuine desire to help people and weaves him into this great lie. At the end, he tells Marty that it was like they were dancing, that Marty was getting his hints and they were working together. He berates Marty for thinking that Roy didn’t exist. This is all a game to Aaron, and he has been winning for years.
Aaron is cunning and clever and very much able to talk his way out of any situation and does so with great regularity. While his actual crimes on paper may be few, his willingness to fuck with everyone around him as both a way to dodge responsibility and because it’s fun is far more destructive than his two murders are.
Path to Redemption: Until Aaron is paired, he will not gain any traction forward. He will continue his lies for as long as possible. He’s quite used to people not believing him and continuing forward with the lies and manipulations. He’s willing to go through great lengths to insist that is not actually responsible for his actions because he is just a sad, sick boy.
However, once a warden has his file and the game is up, it will be an easy road to redemption. The murder of the Archbishop should not have happened, and certainly not in such a brutal way, but he had his reasons for it. He will need to learn that he can’t hide behind “Roy” to get what he wants and he can’t use his fake disorder to get out of trouble. He has to be able to solve problems without fighting and focus his manipulations in a more productive way. Aaron was abused and wasn’t given any real outlet other than aggression to process his abuse. He needs to be able to talk through what happened to him with someone who will actually listen. Roy isn’t going to murder every person on the barge or go through big sprees, but he doesn’t actually have a way to be angry without it leading to violence, and Aaron has a lot of anger inside of him.
Additionally, Aaron needs to have an opportunity to learn and be clever. He hides behind Aaron, who is well read but doesn’t really act like it, because being clever never got him anywhere except on the streets and abused by clergy. He needs to be able to have a good way to use his brains and be given confidence that it will actually get him somewhere.

[Once the game is done Aaron comes on the network as himself. As his true self, which most might know as Roy.)
Hey fuckers, guess it's time to be gooddamn real with you all. Fell in love with little old Aaron, didn't you?
Well, that's all done now. The jig is up. And all that's left is me. Good on you. Buch of stupid assholes. All of you.
[Affecting an Aaron demeanor:]
I - I just had to do it, Mister. No - no one would ever suspect poor Aaron.
