[ Before long, Tim saunters into the library and his gaze settles pretty easily on Aaron. ]

Well, you didn't run away after all, so I guess that's a good start.

[Aaron radiates absolute angelic gentleness. He smiles a genuine smile, pleased to see him in person.]

[He closes his book - a historic look at art - and sets it aside.]

Tim's just fine. That or Deputy, but we don't really need to use the D-word here so we'll just settle on Tim.

{ He glances at the book, then back at Aaron, doing his due diligence of sizing him up. }

You want me to call you Aaron is there somethin' else you prefer to go by?

[Aaron isn't scared or worried as much as he is confused. Almost perpetually so.]

Guess you're- you're the one who's gonna look out for me?

{ But he does look at least a little amused, for a brief second. Aaron will get used to the stoicism of Tim quickly hopefully. }

Is the library one of your haunts on this ship?

Yes sir it - it is. I like it here. I like - like reading.

I work in the - the chapel with Mr. Folgate, but - but this ain't work, you know?

[He smiles a little, almost teasing.

{ Tim takes a seat nearby, crossing one ankle on his knee and leaning back into the chair. }

I'm a reader myself. Helps pass the time around here between all the crazy shit, anyway. There's a book club goin' on these days if you ever find yourself interested, decent way to meet people.

Oh! Okay. I'd like - like that. What kinda books do - do ya read?

[He leans forward, arms on the table.]

Fantasy mostly. I'll dip into sci-fi now and then. Sometimes I like to read the really weird shit that gets put out there under those genres but no one else has ever read.

[ His mouth quirks up into an amused look. ]

Good escapism, I guess.

Whatcha escaping from?

[He sees that almost-smile and can't help a bright, obvious one of his own.]

[ Tim shrugs, scrunching up his face thoughtfully for a moment. ]

Just how boring regular life can be, I guess. You wake up, you go to work, you come home. Sometimes things are a little more excitin' when there's a dragon.

Yeah. I - I mostly read the classics cuz that's what - what the Bishop had in his library.

Not always exciting.
